We have done our research on keywords and we have a domain name, we know the basic elements that make up a web page. Now it is time to start using this information we have been gathering.
Every webpage is part of a website. Our website name already has 1 or 2 of our targetted keywords in it. The actual filename of your page is the next possible place for another keyword to be. Take a look at the address bar - what do you see? You see a domain name, a directory and a couple of keywords making up the URL of this page.
By having every page on your site in a directory, you gain the directory name as an extra keyword. Make sure that if you do this that the keyword/directory name is relevent to the content of the page.
Pages can be static .html pages or dynamic ASP or PHP. For example, you could get to this page by going to http://www.check-seo.com/Articles/index.php?artname=naming_content_pages
Search Engines don't particularly care if your pages are static .html or dynamic with the following exception. Where the dynamic part has an id= or SESSID=
The reason Search Engines dislike pages with id or sessid is twofold:
The answer to that one is pretty easy! You are building a website for your site visitors first and for the Search Engines second. So, making a page static wherever possible makes it much easier for your site visitors to remember the URL to your page.
